There Is No Fear: CJP Vows Protests Will Continue Despite Possible Arrests, Calls Mobilisation on October 10
New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has claimed that possible arrests of its leaders will not stop its protest campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The party has called for a nationwide mobilisation from October 10.
CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka alleged that he, party founder Abhijeet Dipke and leader Saurav Das could be arrested before October 10 under the National Security Act (NSA) or other similar legal provisions. Ranka said the information had come from multiple sources and maintained that the three leaders had been prepared to face arrest since June 6.
“There is no fear about it,” Ranka said in a post on X, asserting that possible legal action would not deter the group from continuing its campaign. The CJP leaders have maintained that the planned protests will continue even if some of their leaders are detained.
The claims came after a protest in Delhi during which around 110 people were detained, according to police sources. The demonstrations were linked to demands for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the SIR process. The allegations concerning the electoral-roll revision remain disputed, with the Election Commission rejecting claims of wrongdoing.
The CJP has announced a major mobilisation beginning October 10, with a planned gathering at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The group says the campaign will continue despite the possibility of arrests, while claims about any specific future arrests have not been independently confirmed.
