ARA----------------------------The continuous rise in the Son River's water level has heightened concerns among residents of the riverbank and *Diara* areas. According to the Central Water Commission, the danger mark for the Son River at Koilwar is set at 54.52 meters; however, the water level had reached 55.10 meters by Wednesday afternoon. By the time this report was filed, the level had risen further to 55.20 meters. Consequently, the Son River is flowing approximately 68 centimeters above the danger mark.

The administration has gone on alert in response to the rapid rise in water levels. By Wednesday afternoon, the river level was rising at a rate of approximately 70 centimeters per hour. However, the rate of increase slowed down by evening. Junior Engineer (JE) Raj Anikesh stated that an increase of about 30 to 40 centimeters was recorded over the course of an hour in the evening.

The impact of the rising Son River is already visible in low-lying areas and *Diara* regions. In several places, river water is encroaching upon agricultural fields. If the water level continues to rise at this rate, difficulties for residents in low-lying areas could escalate.

Teams from the Water Resources Department and the administration are continuously monitoring the Son River's water level. Officials have urged residents of the riverbank areas to remain vigilant and have instructed them to immediately inform the administration should any emergency situation arise.
