ARA----------------------------The police have solved the murder case of a hardware shopkeeper—which occurred on Saturday morning near the Godhna Surya Mandir in the Nawada Police Station area—within just a few hours. The police have arrested the deceased's cousin and uncle in connection with the case. A country-made pistol, two magazines, and seven live cartridges have been recovered from the arrested accused.
Sadar SDPO-1 Sushil Kumar released a statement on Saturday evening providing details of the case. He stated that a land dispute has emerged as the motive behind the murder. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Upendra Kumar Singh, son of the late Baiju Singh and a resident of Badihan village under the Sandesh police station area. He was currently residing at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Godhna (Ward No. 44), in Ara. He owned a hardware shop-cum-residence on his land in New Bahiro, within the Nawada police station area.
According to the police, the involvement of his cousin, Rajesh Kumar Singh, and uncle, Vijay Kumar Singh, has come to light in the murder of Upendra Kumar Singh. Rajesh Kumar Singh shot the hardware shop owner, while Vijay Kumar Singh acted as a 'liner' (facilitator/spotter).
The police have arrested both accused. A country-made pistol, two magazines, and seven live cartridges were recovered from them. The police are examining the weapon used in the murder and the recovered ammunition.
It is reported that Upendra Kumar Singh had returned to Ara from his in-laws' house in Paliganj on Saturday morning. Subsequently, he went to drop his children off at school. While returning after dropping the children, he was shot by armed miscreants near the Godhna Surya Mandir. Although he was being taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment after being shot, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
