ARA-------------------------------The Bhojpur district administration is on high alert due to the rising water level of the Ganga River and the threat of potential flooding. Newly appointed District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena held a high-level review meeting on Saturday at the Shahpur Block office premises. Senior district administration officials and local public representatives participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, District Magistrate Manesh Meena issued strict directives to all concerned departments to complete pre-flood preparations in a timely manner. He conducted a detailed review of the operations of key departments involved in disaster management, such as Supply, Health, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, and MGNREGA. The DM specifically sought information regarding medicine stocks, food grain availability, fodder arrangements for livestock, the procurement of polythene sheets for relief operations, and the deployment of boats and experienced boatmen in flood-prone areas.

Additionally, he directed officials to assess the acreage of standing crops likely to be affected by the floods so that an accurate record of potential losses to farmers could be prepared. The District Magistrate stated unequivocally that no negligence in relief operations during the flood season would be tolerated and that all arrangements must be flawless.

Prior to the review meeting, the District Magistrate conducted a thorough inspection of the anti-erosion boulder pitching work underway on the banks of the Ganges River near Javinia village. During the inspection, he observed a gap in the anti-erosion work at the border between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Taking note of this situation, he assured that coordination would be established with the District Magistrate of Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) to bridge this gap and protect the border areas from erosion. During the inspection, he interacted directly with local residents and families affected by erosion to assess the ground reality.

The situation near Damodarpur village was particularly critical; here, families displaced by erosion—who had been sheltering on the embankment for the past ten months—shared their grievances with the District Magistrate. Moved by the plight of the victims, the District Magistrate personally stopped to listen to the women's concerns. The affected women demanded adequate compensation and safe land for housing. The District Magistrate assured the families that all possible assistance would be provided in accordance with government norms and that efforts would be made to rehabilitate them and improve their standard of living through various public welfare schemes.

Present during the meeting and inspection were DCLR-cum-In-charge SDM Amarendra Kumar, BDO Shatrunjay Kumar Singh, and CO Anand Prakash. Several officials and public representatives were present, including RO Rashmi Sagar, MOIC Dr. Atiullah Ansari, MO Shambhu Sharan Singh, BAO Devanand Rajak, Mukhiya Birbal Singh, Bharat Ojha, Subas Chaudhary, Dinesh Yadav, Ujjwal Singh, Manoj Thakur, Munna Prasad, Ankit Pandey, Bunty Pandey, Vishnu Ram, and Binod Sah.
