PATNA--------------------------The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a coordinated counter-offensive against the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), an activist group accused of organising disruptive protests aimed at creating political instability. According to political analysts, the party has prepared a detailed action plan to expose the group’s funding network, organisational structure and methods of agitation.
The first phase of the strategy is already visible on the ground. Two key CJP figures, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, were arrested in connection with protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Their case, earlier handled by local police stations, has now been transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Court proceedings have extended their judicial custody, with the magistrate noting that their repeated attempts to protest at prohibited locations reflected a pattern of disregard for the law.
Multiple sections of the law have been invoked against them, including those related to disobedience of public servants’ orders, unauthorised entry with intent to commit an offence, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of public servants, and assault or use of force to prevent officials from discharging their duties. Video footage allegedly showing the pair jumping over a closed gate at the protest site has been cited as evidence of unauthorised entry.
The broader BJP plan focuses on neutralising the impact of future protests rather than simply reacting after they begin. The strategy includes exposing the financial and organisational ecosystem supporting such movements, tightening legal action against repeated violators, and countering the narrative that these agitations represent genuine student or public concerns.
Critics of CJP have pointed to the nature of earlier protests, which they describe as marked by provocative language, personal attacks on political leaders and the use of social media reels that crossed conventional boundaries of political dissent. Supporters of the group, however, frame the actions as legitimate democratic expression against government policies.
With the Crime Branch now investigating the cases and the first phase of the counter-strategy already under way, political observers expect further developments in the coming weeks as both sides dig in for a prolonged contest over the legitimacy and methods of street protests in the national capital.
