“Attacks on Ships in Hormuz Unacceptable”: India Raises Strong Voice at UN
India has strongly condemned attacks on its commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that such actions will not be tolerated. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly during a tense debate on the Middle East situation, India’s Permanent Representative Harish P emphasized the urgent need to ensure safe navigation, energy security, and respect for international law.
In a firm and clear message, the Indian envoy stated that targeting Indian commercial ships, endangering the lives of innocent sailors, and obstructing freedom of navigation are completely unacceptable. His remarks briefly brought a sense of gravity and silence to the assembly as he highlighted India’s serious concerns.
Harish P underlined that the safe passage of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is crucial for India’s energy and economic security. He reiterated that India has unequivocally condemned the targeting of civilian vessels in the ongoing conflict.
Expressing deep concern, he further stated that valuable lives of Indian seafarers have been lost during the crisis. Condemning attacks on innocent civilian crew members, he stressed that any disruption to maritime safety and freedom of navigation in such a vital global route is a matter of serious international concern.
