APPEAL NOT TO CONSUME CERTAIN FISH

SASARAM---------------------------In light of an advisory issued by the State Government's Fisheries Directorate, the district administration has appealed to residents to exercise special caution regarding the consumption of fish. According to the advisory, reports indicate that unknown or unusual types of fish have reached certain areas of Bihar, carried by floodwaters from Nepal. During floods, fish can be washed out of ponds, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies into distant areas. Consequently, special vigilance is required to identify unfamiliar or unusual-looking fish. There is also a risk of bacterial and viral infections in fish due to their exposure to filth, dead animals, and other contaminants in floodwaters. Therefore, consuming unknown or unusual fish could pose health risks. District Public Relations Officer Ashish Ranjan stated that the administration has appealed to the public not to consume unknown or unusual-looking fish found in floodwaters. Avoid buying, selling, or consuming such fish.

He advised that if symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, difficulty breathing, or other unusual signs appear after consuming such fish, one should immediately seek medical advice at the nearest health center or hospital. The district administration has appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumors, to prioritize their safety, and to completely avoid consuming unfamiliar fish.
