AC Failure in Mumbai LTT Summer Special Train Sparks Passenger Outrage Amid Scorching Summer Heat
Passengers aboard the 01054 Mumbai LTT Special Fare Summer Special were left sweltering in intense heat after the train's air conditioning system reportedly failed during its journey, triggering widespread frustration and complaints.
Katni (RNI) Passengers aboard the 01054 Mumbai LTT Special Fare Summer Special were left sweltering in intense heat after the train's air conditioning system reportedly failed during its journey, triggering widespread frustration and complaints.
The incident occurred on May 23 at Katni Junction in Madhya Pradesh, where several passengers, already battling extreme summer temperatures, expressed anger over the non-functional AC coaches. The train, which operates under a special summer scheme to handle seasonal travel rush, was expected to provide air-conditioned comfort — a promise that remained unfulfilled despite premium fare charges.
According to eyewitnesses, the temperature inside the AC coaches soared, causing severe discomfort. Many passengers claimed they felt "burnt" by the heat and negligence, especially after being assured of improved rail services under the Narendra Modi-led central government and current Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
“This is not just discomfort — this is a serious health risk. We paid extra for AC coaches, and there was no cooling at all. Where is the accountability?” said a visibly upset passenger.
The chaos at Katni Junction reportedly led to a heated exchange between railway staff and agitated passengers, some of whom demanded refunds or alternate arrangements. Videos and photos of the incident have begun circulating on social media, drawing sharp criticism of the Indian Railways' preparedness during peak summer months.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Railway Ministry regarding the incident. Passengers are urging the authorities to investigate the failure and ensure such lapses do not recur in other summer special trains.
