PATNA--------------------------The Water Resources Department is consistently prioritizing flood protection and anti-erosion measures in vulnerable areas. As part of this initiative, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary of the Water Resources Department (Bihar), visited Javaniya village—located on the Uttar Pradesh border within the Shahpur block of Bhojpur district—on Thursday. During the visit, he conducted a thorough on-site inspection of the anti-erosion works underway along the banks of the Ganges and reviewed the project's progress in detail.

While inspecting Javaniya village, the Secretary not only assessed the quality of the ongoing construction work but also engaged directly with local villagers. The villagers apprised him of the challenges and concerns arising from the continuous erosion caused by the Ganges and shared their suggestions and feedback regarding the current anti-erosion and protection measures.

According to departmental data, work is proceeding on a war footing to protect the villages of Javaniya (Damodarpur Panchayat), Gangapur, Bhusaula, and Nandpur—situated on the right bank of the Ganges—from the threat of erosion. This ambitious project, covering a total length of 1,200 meters, has received administrative approval for a budget of ₹52.56 crore.

Following the inspection, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh issued clear directives to the concerned officials to accelerate the pace of work, given the critical nature of the monsoon season. He emphasized the need to ensure the availability of all necessary resources and mandated the completion of the anti-erosion works within the next month.

The Secretary made it clear to the engineers and contractors that no compromise on construction quality would be tolerated and that completing the work within the stipulated timeframe was mandatory. Jagdishpur SDM Sanjit Kumar, SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma, senior departmental engineers, executive engineers, other departmental officials, and local public representatives were present during the inspection.
