In a tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Veerpur village, under the jurisdiction of the Murar police station, a 12-year-old boy drowned in a pond.

The boy, who had gone to bathe with his friends, wandered into the deep waters without his companions even realizing it. Approximately two and a half hours later, local divers retrieved his body from the pond. Following the incident, the entire village has been plunged into mourning, while the victim's family members are inconsolable with grief. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Yadav, the son of Guddu Yadav, a resident of Veerpur. Arjun's father, Guddu Yadav, currently resides in Hyderabad, where he works as a daily wage laborer. Upon receiving the news of his son's death, he immediately departed from Hyderabad for his village.

It is reported that around 9:30 AM on Wednesday, Arjun went to bathe in the village pond along with four or five of his friends.

All the children were frolicking in the pond when, at some point, Arjun drifted toward the deeper section and began to drown. It is suspected that due to the depth of the water, he was unable to make his way back to safety. His friends remained completely unaware of the incident; after finishing their bath, they returned to their respective homes. When Arjun failed to return home for a considerable period, his family members grew anxious. His relatives began searching for him in the immediate vicinity. During this search, some villagers expressed the apprehension that he might have drowned in the pond. Upon receiving this information, a crowd of villagers gathered near the pond, and local divers were summoned to the scene.

After a search operation that lasted for approximately half an hour, the divers retrieved Arjun's body from the deeper section of the pond. As soon as the body was brought out, the scene erupted in cries of anguish and grief. Hoping for a miracle, relatives and villagers hurriedly rushed the victim to the Chougain Community Health Center, where the medical officer on duty, Dr. Mitendra Kumar, declared him dead following an examination. As soon as the death was confirmed, a pall of gloom descended upon the hospital premises. Hearing the wailing of the mother and other relatives, the eyes of those present also welled up with tears. A wave of mourning swept through the village as well. Following the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the bereaved family's home to offer their condolences and support. Upon receiving the information, the police from the Murar police station also arrived at the scene.

The police calmed the situation by reasoning with the relatives and villagers, and after completing the necessary legal formalities, sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Confirming the incident, Murar Station House Officer (SHO) Neha Kumari stated that the teenager had died due to drowning in a pond. She added that the body has been taken into custody for the post-mortem, and a case of Unnatural Death (UD) will be registered in this matter. An atmosphere of despondency prevails in Veerpur village following the incident. Shaken by the tragedy, villagers are now preventing their children from venturing near the pond. Village elders note that as the summer heat intensifies, children often flock to the pond to bathe, creating a persistent risk of such accidents.
