SAYANI GHOSH DELIVERED THE MOST POWERFUL SPEECH

The no-confidence motion against the Speaker of the Lok Sabha was discussed for nearly 13 hours. Ignoring the politics of the ruling and opposition parties, I would like to say that the most powerful speech in this entire debate came from TMC MP Sayani Ghosh, a first-time Lok Sabha member. In just 13 minutes, she listed the shortcomings of the government's policies from beginning to end.

SAYANI GHOSH DELIVERED THE MOST POWERFUL SPEECH

DELHI-------------------------The no-confidence motion against the Speaker of the Lok Sabha was discussed for nearly 13 hours.

Issues the government doesn't want to hear: They said that the CAG report is no longer available—and if the CAG report isn't available, how will corruption be detected? The Railway Budget has been merged with the Union Budget; bills are introduced but are not allowed to be discussed and are simply passed. How can an MP fight for the rights of others when they can't even fight for their own rights? Discussions on sensitive issues like Manipur are held at 2 a.m. so that no one can hear. And the opposition's position is such that speaking outside the House results in an FIR, and speaking inside the House results in expulsion.

Taking a direct dig at Nishikant Dubey, she said that when Rahul Gandhi or Abhishek Banerjee quote a book, their microphones are turned off—but when the "Blue-White Boy" continues speaking for 3-4 minutes, the microphones remain off.

She also said, "You have branded us terrorists, while the real attackers come on bicycles, attack, and then leave on foot, and your government can do nothing. Yes, we fight—but with the Constitution in hand, not with swords."

Such maturity in the first attempt: There are many leaders who have been members of the House three, four, or even eight times, but they have neither control over their language nor respect for the decorum of language. Sayani Ghosh's speech proves that, while maintaining the decorum of language, one can express one's views meaningfully and effectively even in a short time. And what more is needed in Parliament than raising public issues so effectively that they reach the government's ears.
