PATNA--------------------------The $247 million dispute between Reliance Industries (RIL) and the Indian government over the KG-D6 gas block is expected to be resolved in 2026. The case is currently in the final stages of international arbitration. Reliance has been the operator of the KG-D6 block since 2002.
The Management Committee, constituted under the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) and comprising two government representatives, holds veto power over every decision. No expenditure can be incurred, nor can any decision be implemented without the prior approval of the committee. The Reliance-led consortium has fully complied with all these procedures, and the government has not yet accused the company of any irregularities. Despite this, the disallowance of certain costs after they have already been incurred is considered contrary to the spirit of the contract.
