ARA---------------------------In the wondrous world of nature, the mating of snakes is considered one of the rarest and most awe-inspiring sights. Often during spring or the monsoon season, as the weather shifts, male snakes track the scent of a female to approach her. During this process, they intertwine their bodies, creating a dance-like posture that fascinates onlookers.
On Thursday, a rare spectacle of this kind was witnessed in the Shahpur area of Bihar's Bhojpur district. Two snakes were seen entwined with each other near the NH-922 bridge in Ward No. 11 of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat, along the roadside leading to Banahi. Upon learning of the event, a crowd of locals gathered, and many captured this natural scene on their mobile cameras.
According to local residents, this unique sight appeared following light rain and a change in the weather in the area. The snakes remained entwined for about an hour and a half near a new borewell located close to the field of former Deputy Chief Councilor Gupteshwar Sah. Experts believe that snakes generally mate in quiet, secluded spots with minimal human activity.
Clarifying details about the incident, the former Deputy Councilor stated that the snakes belonged to the *Dhamin* (Rat Snake) species. *Dhamin* snakes are not highly venomous. Typically, snakes remain underground in their burrows during the cold season but begin to emerge as summer sets in. This mating ritual not only showcases the vibrancy of nature but also symbolizes the balance of the ecosystem.
