PANCHAYAT SARKAR BHANANS ARE BEING CONSTRUCTED

ARA-----------------------The Government of Bihar is constructing 'Panchayat Sarkar Bhavans' (Panchayat Government Buildings) in every panchayat to foster their development, ensuring that citizens do not have to travel to block or district headquarters for their routine administrative tasks and that all services are made available right at the panchayat level. This is a commendable initiative.

However, the unfortunate reality is that in many places, the land selected for these Panchayat Sarkar Bhavans is situated in the most remote and unsuitable locations within the panchayat. In some instances, the building has been constructed 1–2 kilometers away from the village; in others, it is located in places lacking proper access roads—sometimes amidst potholes, and at other times in desolate areas. Consequently, common citizens—particularly women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities—are facing immense difficulties.

This constitutes a serious oversight from which lessons must be learned. In the future, the construction of marriage halls or other public buildings at the panchayat level should be undertaken in locations that are easily accessible, convenient for people from all sections of society, and well-served by adequate transport facilities.

If the benefits of these schemes are to truly reach the common people, then transparency, practicality, and public convenience must be accorded the highest priority when selecting sites for such projects.
