Road accidents in the district continue unabated. The latest incident occurred on the Patna-Ara main road in Dhanupra, under the Nagar police station area, where an unknown four-wheeler hit a 7-year-old child. The accident was so severe that the child died on the spot.
According to information, Kishan Kumar, the 7-year-old son of Sonu Kumar, a resident of Dhanupra, was walking along the road from his barn around 10:30 a.m. when he was hit by a speeding, uncontrolled four-wheeler coming from Patna. The driver fled with the vehicle.
The incident caused chaos in the area. The family was inconsolable. Angry family members and local residents set fire to the road and blocked the Patna-Ara main road. Within minutes, long lines of vehicles formed for several kilometers.
The family alleges that accidents occur regularly on this road. Neither speed limits are enforced nor is there any strictness on the operation of heavy vehicles. They say that an innocent child has paid the price for the administration's negligence with his life.
As soon as the information was received, the city police station and traffic police arrived at the scene. After considerable effort, the family members were persuaded and the traffic jam was cleared, and only then was traffic restored.
Police say they will identify the unidentified vehicle and take action. Currently, the entire area is in mourning, and every eye is moist. This accident once again highlights the need for road safety and strict action against speeding.
