ARA-------------------------On Saturday afternoon, a speeding, out-of-control Scorpio vehicle ran over a middle-aged cyclist near Yadavpur village, within the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station on the Ara-Sinha road. The man died from his injuries; he succumbed while undergoing treatment in the emergency ward of Sadar Hospital. The incident caused panic and commotion among the locals.
The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Akhilesh Paswan, son of the late Jagdish Paswan and a resident of Yadavpur village. He was a mason by profession. Following his death, local villagers and family members became enraged. They took the body from Sadar Hospital, placed it on the road near Yadavpur village, and staged a blockade. The road remained blocked for approximately one hour.
The blockade resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Upon receiving the information, Mufassil Station House Officer (SHO) Ram Kalyan Yadav arrived at the scene with a police force and persuaded the crowd to clear the blockade. Subsequently, the police arranged for a post-mortem examination of the body at Sadar Hospital.
Reports indicate that on Saturday morning, he had gone to Pirauta village—also within the police station's jurisdiction—on his bicycle for work. He was returning home on his bicycle for lunch on Saturday afternoon when a speeding Scorpio, coming from the wrong side of the road, ran him over near Yadavpur village. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Sadar Hospital by his family, where he eventually passed away during treatment.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Usha Devi, three daughters (Ruby, Anjali, and Chanchali), and a son, Lavkush Paswan. The incident has plunged the family into deep grief; his wife, Usha Devi, and other family members are inconsolable.
