BHABHUA---------------------------Under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DALSA), a significant meeting was organized on Monday in the conference hall of the ADR Building. The meeting was presided over by the District Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Lalan Kumar Rajak. The primary objective of this meeting was to draw the attention of advocates to the standards of professional conduct and etiquette enshrined in Part VI, Chapter II of the Bar Council of India Rules. Present on this occasion were the President of the District Bar Association, Awadh Kishore Singh; the Secretary, Dharmendra Kumar Singh; along with numerous senior and junior advocates. During the proceedings, the District Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, Lalan Kumar Rajak, stated that advocates constitute an integral pillar of the justice delivery system, and society expects them to uphold high moral values. He emphasized that it is the paramount duty of every advocate to strictly adhere—to the letter—to the rules prescribed by the Bar Council in order to preserve the dignity of justice. Furthermore, citing Section 49(1)(c) of the Act, the Secretary clarified that the practice of law is not merely a profession but a sacred obligation that necessitates a balance between three key elements: loyalty to the client, respect for the court, and courtesy towards fellow advocates. He further remarked that if advocates themselves remain disciplined and conduct themselves with decorum, the general public's faith in the judiciary will be further strengthened. During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on maintaining the dignity of the court, demonstrating respect for the judicial system, and safeguarding the interests and confidentiality of clients. Advocates were also advised to maintain cordial and professional relationships with their colleagues. The President of the District Bar Association, Awadh Kishore Singh; the Secretary, Dharmendra Kumar Singh; and other advocates present expressed their complete concurrence with the Secretary's views, affirming that ethical conduct constitutes the true identity of an advocate. All the advocates lauded this session and acknowledged that such initiatives would serve to further fortify the judicial system.
