FORMER MLA QUESTIONED THE PLIGHT OF FARMERS

The farmers of the country, who feed the nation, are still struggling for their livelihood. It is an extremely sad and shameful situation when a farmer is forced to burn his hard-earned paddy crop or take extreme steps like suicide due to not receiving the minimum support price. Such a situation should be a matter of deep introspection for any sensitive government and administration. These remarks were made by former MLA Bhai Dinesh of Jagdishpur.

FORMER MLA QUESTIONED THE PLIGHT OF FARMERS

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA---------------------------The farmers of the country, who feed the nation, are still struggling for their livelihood.

Expressing his concern on this serious issue, former MLA Bhai Dinesh (Jagdishpur, Bhojpur) said that the announcements made by the government in the interest of farmers seem to be completely hollow. He alleged that it appears that the sole function of the government and administration has become to demolish the houses of villagers, the poor, farmers, and laborers, and to evict street vendors, which they consider their achievement. This trend is highly condemnable and contrary to the spirit of public welfare.

Bhai Dinesh strongly demanded that the government and administration ensure the 100% procurement of farmers' paddy at the minimum support price. For this, a comprehensive and effective campaign should be launched, and timely payments should be ensured in the farmers' bank accounts so that the food providers can be freed from financial crisis.

In addition, he reiterated his demand that the orders to demolish the houses, shops, or huts of those poor families should be immediately withdrawn, as they are neither obstructing any road or drainage, nor is any government building or industry proposed to be constructed there. He said that making the poor homeless unnecessarily during the winter season is not justified in any way.
