BUXAR-------------------------The spate of complaints against the Electricity Department in the district has intensified. Sonu Singh—a former District Councilor from the Chakki region and a senior leader of the LJP (Ramvilas) party—has announced that he will meet with Manoj Kumar Singh (IAS), the Secretary of the Bihar Government's Energy Department and CMD of BSPHCL, to lodge a detailed complaint regarding departmental irregularities.
Sonu Singh alleged that illegal extortion is being carried out against poor residents in rural areas under the guise of electricity inspections—an issue he intends to highlight prominently. He stated that he has obtained concrete evidence of corruption involving certain electricity department employees, which he will present to higher authorities.
The former District Councilor noted that, particularly within the Krishnabrahm police station area, numerous complaints have surfaced recently regarding rude behavior and irregular conduct by the department's Junior Engineers (JEs) and other staff members toward the general public. He alleged that people are being harassed in the name of inspections, and established regulations are not being adhered to.
He further stated that a recent incident in the Krishnabrahm police station area—involving physical assault and misconduct against women from the Backward Classes during an electricity inspection—has gravely escalated the situation and sparked widespread outrage among the public. He affirmed that he would raise his voice regarding this matter at the highest levels to ensure that strict action is taken against the culprits.
He also remarked that the department's arbitrary attitude has generated immense resentment among the residents of the region. The recent incidents of misconduct and physical assault during inspections in the Krishnabrahm police station area have further exacerbated public anger.
Sonu Singh informed that his legal team has already begun preparing the necessary paperwork regarding this entire matter, and a formal complaint will be lodged shortly.
He added that, subsequently, he also intends to meet with his party's National President and Union Minister, Chirag Paswan. Furthermore, this issue will be brought to the attention of Bihar's new Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, to ensure an impartial inquiry and strict punitive action against the errant electricity department employees who are tarnishing the image of the NDA government. Local residents now hope that, following the matter reaching higher levels, departmental functioning will improve and the general public will find relief.
