BUXAR----------------------------A major revelation has emerged regarding the attendance of teachers in the block during the annual examinations and the evaluation of answer sheets. Following the discovery of discrepancies during an inspection of the E-Shikshakosh portal, Block Education Officer (BEO) Shyam Bihari Prasad has issued show-cause notices to approximately 400 teachers. All concerned teachers have been directed to appear in person and submit their explanations within 24 hours from the date of issuance of the letter. The investigation revealed that between March 16 and March 25, many teachers assigned to examination and evaluation duties were not physically present at the centers, yet they recorded their attendance.
In some instances, teachers marked their attendance from home, while many others recorded fraudulent attendance by falsely citing "office work."
The BEO clarified that there is no provision for "office work" in primary and middle schools; this provision applies only to high schools. The BEO has termed this conduct as indiscipline, a defiance of orders from superior officers, and negligence in the discharge of duties. He warned that in the absence of a satisfactory response, strict punitive action—including suspension, dismissal, or the permanent withholding of salaries—could be initiated against the concerned teachers. The BEO also stated that teachers' attendance will now be continuously monitored through the e-ShikshaKosh, so that such irregularities can be completely curbed in the future.
