ARA---------------------------With the aim of safeguarding the dignity of the name of Emperor Ashoka the Great and ensuring he receives due respect, the Chakravarti Samrat Ashoka Birth Anniversary Committee has submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Bhojpur.
In the memorandum submitted to the District Magistrate—signed by the committee's President, Dr. Surendra Kumar Prasad, and Principal General Secretary, Durgavati Kumar Maurya—the committee expressed its dismay and concern, appealing for an immediate halt to the construction of a community hall named after Emperor Ashoka, which is currently being built by the municipal corporation near the local Patel Bus Stand.
In its own words, the committee asserted that Emperor Ashoka the Great was no ordinary individual. However, bestowing his name upon a community hall under construction at a cramped, cornered, and disorderly site near the Patel Bus Stand—a location frequently plagued by heaps of garbage—amounts to a grave insult to his legacy. From every perspective, this action appears to be tantamount to dragging his honor into the mire.
The committee has earnestly urged the District Magistrate to immediately halt the aforementioned construction in deference to Emperor Ashoka. Furthermore, appealing to uphold the glory of Emperor Ashoka the Great by associating his name with a building situated at a truly befitting location within society, the committee has requested that the community hall be constructed instead on the spacious plot of land situated south of the Eastern Railway Overbridge—where the Sun Temple is also established—or at any other suitable site.
