DEMAND FOR JUSTICE : BHAI DINESH

20-JUNE-ENG 5

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA------------------------Today, I met with the aggrieved family of Bharat Tiwari and his father to offer my condolences. Witnessing the family's pain and anguish left me deeply distressed.

The rule of law is the hallmark of a democracy. If allegations are leveled against an individual, they should be arrested and produced before a court of law. A police encounter can be deemed justified only when there is an immediate threat to the lives of police personnel or civilians, and action in self-defense becomes unavoidable.

If an individual has surrendered or is already in police custody, ensuring their safety and adhering to due legal process becomes the administration's responsibility. An impartial investigation is essential in such cases so that the truth comes to light and public faith in the legal and judicial system remains intact.

The serious questions arising from the Bharat Tiwari case must be answered. The aggrieved family must receive justice, action must be taken against the guilty—regardless of who they are—and a fair, high-level inquiry into the entire matter must be conducted.

In a democracy, justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done. We stand with the aggrieved family and will continue to firmly press for justice.
