ARA------------------------CPI(ML) demands that the government provide ₹1 crore in compensation to Sanoj Kumar Ram's family! Abhyuday, a CPI(ML) Central Committee member and Bhojpur District Secretary, addressed a press conference at the party's district office in Shritola, Ara, after visiting the family of Sanoj Ram—a 30-year-old resident of Ganj in Bihiya block who has been missing from police custody for the past 11 months. He stated that on August 13, 2023, Sanoj Ram had gone to Doghara for wage labor. When he was late returning in the evening, he called his brother, Manoj Ram, to inform him that the Excise Department police had arrested him near Dharhara Musahar Toli. During a subsequent call, Sanoj told his brother, "The police are beating me brutally; please save me." When his family members went to the local Excise Department police station, they were turned away and told that no one had been arrested there. At the time of his arrest, his wife had a three-month-old infant; tragically, the child died shortly after birth due to malnutrition. His father submitted a written complaint to the local Bihiya police station the following day, yet no action has been taken on it to date. MP Sudama Prasad had met Bhojpur District Magistrate Tanay Sultania to demand Sanoj Ram's safe recovery, but he remained missing. Consequently, his father, Gaurishankar Ram, approached the High Court two months ago; the High Court subsequently ordered action against the guilty police personnel, leading to their arrest. CPI(ML) Central Committee member Raju Yadav remarked that the establishment of a "police raj" under the Samrat Chaudhary-led government in Bihar has caused incidents of arbitrary police conduct to reach an all-time high. Meanwhile, the family alleges that the police murdered Sanoj Ram and dumped his body at an unknown location. CPI(ML) State Committee member and former Agiaon MLA Shivprakash Ranjan demanded that the Bhojpur district administration explain how Sanoj Ram disappeared from police custody. He stated that the administration must answer for this; if Sanoj Ram is not safely recovered, the CPI(ML) and RYA will intensify their agitation by holding a protest march in Ara tomorrow (July 8) and a road blockade in Bihiya on July 10. The CPI(ML) leaders further demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident. They also demanded that, in the event of Sanoj Ram's murder, his family be given compensation of ₹1 crore and that a case of murder be registered against the guilty police personnel, ensuring they face severe punishment. Present at the press conference were CPI(ML) Central Committee member and Bhojpur District Secretary Abhyuday, Central Committee member Raju Yadav, State Committee member and former Agiaon MLA Shivprakash Ranjan, State Standing Committee member Sangeeta Singh, State Committee member Shabbir Kumar, District Office Secretary Dilraj Pritam, and District Standing Committee member Chandan Kumar.
