Badaun Transport Department Launches Reflector Tape Drive to Enhance Road Safety
83 Vehicles Fitted with Reflectors, Two Overloaded Vehicles Seized During Special Campaign
RNI Badaun In view of the increasing number of road accidents in the district, the Transport Department has launched a 15-day special enforcement and awareness campaign aimed at installing reflector tapes on tractor-trolleys and other commercial vehicles. The campaign is being conducted from June 22 to July 6 under the directions of the District Magistrate.
As part of the drive, the department inspected 99 vehicles on Tuesday. During the inspection, officials found that 83 vehicles were operating without reflector tapes. Reflector tapes were immediately installed on these vehicles to improve their visibility during night-time travel and reduce the risk of accidents.
The enforcement team also took action against overloaded vehicles. Two overloaded vehicles were seized and sent to the Transport Office. A penalty amount of approximately ₹1 lakh was deposited into the government treasury as part of the enforcement proceedings.
Transport officials appealed to vehicle owners and operators to ensure timely renewal of vehicle fitness certificates and insurance policies. They also urged motorists to install reflector tapes and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to enhance road safety.
The joint enforcement operation was carried out by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement/Administration) Hari Om, Goods and Passenger Tax Officer Abhinav Chaudhary, along with enforcement personnel from the Transport Department.
The special campaign is expected to continue across the district over the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents..
