The bugle has been sounded for the PACS elections in Bihar. Elections are to be held in 436 PACS across 24 districts. Nominations for the elections will begin on March 6th. Voting will take place on March 18th, and counting will also take place on the same day. The PACS election dates were announced just yesterday. The Election Committee has announced the election dates. All preparations for the elections are now in full swing.
The most important thing is that the counting of votes will be completed on the same day and the results will be declared, meaning the election and results will be finalized on the same day. As per the scheduled schedule, the election process will begin on March 6th and 7th. Subsequently, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 9th and 10th, with March 11th the last date for withdrawal. Voting will be held on March 18th from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Reservation provisions have also been made for management committee positions. Two seats each will be reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Extremely Backward Classes. Fifty percent of these reserved seats have been set aside for women to ensure women's participation. The districts where elections will be held include Araria, Aurangabad, Katihar, Kaimur, Khagaria, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Purnia, East Champaran, Banka, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Madhubani, Madhepura, Muzaffarpur, Rohtas, Lakhisarai, Samastipur, Saharsa, Saran, Sitamarhi, Siwan, and Supaul. Voting will be held in PACS (Panchayat Support Units) across various blocks and panchayats in these districts.
In terms of the number of seats, the highest number of PACS will be held in Araria (70), Madhubani (69), and Bhagalpur (64). Voting will also be held in 37 PACS in Siwan, 22 in Katihar, 21 in Supaul, and 20 in Saran. Voting will be held in two PACS each in Khagaria and Banka, and one in Muzaffarpur. PACS are considered a crucial link in the rural economy, as farmers receive loans, fertilizers, seeds, and other essential services through these committees. Therefore, these elections hold special significance at the local level, and the benefits of many government schemes also reach farmers in villages through these committees.
The administration has begun preparations for the elections. Officials in the respective districts have been instructed to ensure a peaceful and fair voting process. Security and basic amenities will also be arranged at polling stations. Since voting and counting will take place on the same day, people will not have to wait long for the results
