ARA--------------------------As part of a special campaign launched by the Bihar State Health Committee to eradicate filariasis, the awareness chariot was flagged off to raise public awareness. Flagging off the chariot from the Community Health Center in Piro, Block Development Officer Ashok Kumar and Medical Officer-in-Charge Dr. Ravi Kumar said that filariasis is a dangerous disease. Commonly known as elephantiasis, it is caused by mosquito bites and causes disability and disfigurement. This disease affects the hands, breasts, and hydrocele, among other organs. Infection most commonly occurs in childhood. While hydrocele-related filariasis is curable with timely treatment, swelling in the hands, feet, and breasts caused by filariasis is usually incurable. Everyone remains at risk. Therefore, caution and awareness about this disease are essential. Keeping this in mind, the awareness campaign has been launched. Dr. Ravi added that special camps will also be organized in each Panchayat as part of the campaign. While sending off the awareness chariot, Rural Development Officer Mohsin Khan, Block Coordinator Piro Shrikrishna Singh and Nasir Hussain along with many others were present.
