BUXAR-----------------------------In a major crackdown against drug traffickers within the Dumraon police station area of the district, the police have seized approximately 78.965 kilograms of ganja (cannabis). During the operation, three inter-district smugglers were arrested and sent to jail under judicial custody, while the search for other accused individuals linked to the smuggling network has been intensified.
The police achieved this breakthrough based on a confidential tip-off. According to the information received, Chhote Turaha—a resident of Shakti Dwar on Jungle Bazar Road—was operating an illicit narcotics trade from his home. Given the gravity of the intelligence, a special team was constituted under the leadership of SDPO Polast Kumar, acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya.
The raiding team comprised Dumraon Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Circle Inspector Arvind Kumar, and other police personnel. The team executed a planned raid on Chhote Turaha's residence and recovered a substantial quantity of ganja from the premises. Along with Chhote Turaha, two of his accomplices were also arrested at the scene.
The arrested accused have been identified as Chhote Turaha (a resident of Dumraon town), Bhim Kumar (a resident of Bhadar village within the Sikraul police station area), and Satyendra Kumar (a resident of Masarh village within the Udwantnagar police station area of Bhojpur district). During interrogation, Satyendra Kumar revealed that he had been involved in this illicit trade for a long time alongside his brother, Surendra Turaha. While his brother is currently incarcerated, Satyendra had been running the smuggling network with the assistance of new accomplices.
Police investigations also revealed that a case under the NDPS Act had already been registered against Satyendra Kumar at the Udwantnagar police station prior to this incident. During the raid, in addition to ganja, the police also seized a white car and a high-end smartphone.
In this regard, SDPO Polast Kumar stated that the Dumraon police are continuously taking strict action against drug trafficking and will not allow such illegal trade to flourish at any cost. He appealed to the general public to immediately report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking to the police, so that timely action can be taken.
