PATNA---------------------------Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, held a video call with Rakesh Kumar, son of Ram Kumar Singh, the retired Assistant Commissioner of Customs who was shot dead in broad daylight in Ara, Bhojpur.

An RJD delegation led by former MLA Bhai Dinesh first visited the family and gathered details of the incident. During the call, Rakesh described his father as a socialist who stood for every section of society. He said the assailants fired eight bullets at his father. Ram Kumar Singh had earlier sought security at both district and state levels, but no timely action was taken on his complaints. Rakesh also alleged that the main accused and shooters were still moving freely even after the daytime murder and appealed for justice.

Tejashwi Yadav accused the state of letting criminals operate without restraint and assured the family that the killers of Ram Kumar Singh would not be spared. An FIR naming 14 accused has been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s son Amit Kumar Singh (Goldy). The named individuals include Chandan Singh, Manoj Kumar Singh alias Lucky, Rakesh Kumar, Bhim Singh, Sudhir Kumar Singh, Amarendra Bahadur Singh, Deepak Kumar Singh, Jaiprakash Yadav alias Guddu Yadav, Santosh Kumar Singh, Mohammad Saif Alam, Harshit Singh, Chandni Singh, former Ara circle employee Vishnudeo Singh, and the then Mufassil police station officer Ram Kalyan Yadav.

The killing has raised serious questions about law and order and the protection of citizens who had sought official security.
