PATNA-------------------------To curb the sale of adulterated, counterfeit, and substandard food products, the Food Safety Department has launched a major, state-wide campaign across Bihar. Health Minister Nishant stated that ensuring the public has access to safe, hygienic, and high-quality food is the government's top priority. As part of this initiative, inspections are being conducted across the state—including in Patna—covering hotels, restaurants, sweet shops, food manufacturing units, and businesses dealing in packaged drinking water.
The inspections primarily focus on the quality of items such as milk, paneer (cottage cheese), curd, ghee, cooking oil, sweets, flour (atta and maida), packaged chicken, and bottled water.
Food business operators are urged to strictly adhere to regulations concerning hygiene, proper storage, the use of quality ingredients, and the maintenance of valid licenses. They are warned against engaging in adulteration for the sake of profit. Consumers are also advised to carefully check the quality, packaging, and expiry dates when purchasing food products. Those who compromise public health will not be spared; the department’s enforcement drive will continue.
