ARA----------------------An elderly woman died after drowning in a pond in Naya Mohammadpur village, under the Koilwar police station area, on Tuesday evening. The incident caused a stir and panic among the local residents. According to reports, the deceased was Lachiya Devi (86), wife of the late Shivdhari Mahto and a resident of Naya Mohammadpur village under the Koilwar police station area.

Meanwhile, the deceased's relatives informed 'Khabrein Aapki' that she had three sons living away from home, while one son lived in the village. That son had gone to his in-laws' house with his wife for the Rakhi festival, leaving her alone at home. On Tuesday afternoon, she had gone towards the fields; a pond lies along the path.

While walking there, she slipped and fell into the pond, where she drowned. Later in the evening, when relatives tried calling her mobile phone, it was switched off. Consequently, they set out to search for her. Upon reaching the pond, they discovered her body in the water. The police subsequently had the post-mortem conducted at Sadar Hospital.
