ARA----------------------------A massive fire, triggered by a short circuit, broke out on Monday in a cluster of shed-like dwellings in Doghara village, located within the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station in Bhojpur district. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing several neighboring homes. In the incident, the houses of 10 families were completely reduced to ashes.
Property worth lakhs of rupees—including food grains, clothing, jewelry, cash, motorcycles, and household items—was destroyed in the blaze. Upon receiving information about the incident, a fire brigade team arrived at the scene and managed to bring the fire under control after nearly two hours of intense effort.
According to reports, the fire first broke out in the home of Vijay Yadav. His house was constructed using corrugated tin sheets and thatch. The flames consumed the food grains, clothing, and other belongings stored inside. The fire then spread to the adjacent shed-like structures.
Among the losses, a motorcycle (Apache) belonging to Narad Yadav, along with 30,000 rupees in cash and other personal belongings, was reduced to ashes. Due to the intensity of the fire, the affected families were unable to retrieve their belongings from their homes.
The families affected by the fire include Vijay Yadav, Virendra Yadav, Narad Yadav, Ramayan Yadav, Mantu Yadav, Buchul Yadav, Lal Yadav, Chandan Yadav, Ramashankar Yadav, and Ramjanm Yadav.
Following the incident, a fire brigade team—comprising Havildar Yusuf Ali, drivers Sikandar Kumar and Vikram Kumar, and firefighters Chandni Kumari and Sonu Kumar—arrived at the site. PSI Raushan Kumar from the Bihiya police station was also present at the scene.
Circle Officer (CO) Nilesh Kumar stated that upon learning of the incident, the Circle Nazir (official in charge of accounts/records), Radhakrishna Mishra, and the Panchayat Secretary were dispatched to the location. An assessment of the damage is currently underway. He assured that the affected families would be provided with assistance in accordance with the established provisions for compensation.
