ARA--------------------------Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor put to rest speculation over former IPS officer Anand Mishra’s departure from the party, stating Mishra remains a member but has stepped back from active roles, as rumors swirl about his potential shift to the BJP.
On June 11, 2025, addressing the media in Ara, Kishor clarified the status of Anand Mishra, whose rumored exit from Jan Suraaj has fueled political chatter. “Anand Mishra has not left Jan Suraaj. He was the youth wing president, a role he has relinquished, and he is no longer active in the party,” Kishor said. He added that Mishra, who recently visited Guwahati, Assam, is exploring personal ambitions. “Jan Suraaj wasn’t built by Anand Mishra or me alone. It’s an idea. Even if I leave tomorrow, Jan Suraaj won’t collapse,” Kishor asserted, emphasizing the party’s vision for a new Bihar rooted in education, employment, and systemic change.
Mishra, a 2011-batch IPS officer who served in Assam and Manipur, took voluntary retirement in late 2023 to enter politics. Speculation of him contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Buxar on a BJP ticket fizzled out, leading him to run independently, only to face defeat. He then joined Jan Suraaj but resigned as youth wing president last month, skipping party events and meetings. This sparked rumors of his disillusionment and potential move to the BJP, though Mishra has not disclosed his next political step.
Kishor’s remarks underscore Jan Suraaj’s resilience amid internal shifts, but Mishra’s uncertain future keeps Bihar’s political circles abuzz as the 2025 assembly polls loom.
