BHABHUA--------------------------In a major breakthrough, the Karamchat police have busted an inter-state bike theft gang. During the operation, the police recovered four stolen motorcycles and arrested two accused—a brother-in-law and his brother-in-law (sister's husband). Both accused have been remanded to judicial custody, while a search is underway for other gang members and buyers of the stolen vehicles.
Karamchat Station House Officer (SHO) Pankaj Kumar Paswan stated that a routine vehicle checking drive was being conducted near Adamapur Mor on Friday. Meanwhile, two youths riding a motorcycle without a number plate attempted to flee suspiciously upon seeing the police. The police team immediately gave chase and apprehended both of them about 200 meters away.
The detained youths were identified as 21-year-old Rafiq Siddiqui from Ruppur village and 26-year-old Riyasat Siddiqui from Amav village. Interrogation revealed that they were brothers-in-law. Upon inspection of the Pulsar and Apache motorcycles recovered from their possession, it was found that both vehicles had been stolen from the Varanasi and Chandauli districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Following intensive interrogation and based on information provided by the accused, the police raided Riyasat Siddiqui's house in Amav village. A Honda Shine motorcycle and a Hero Splendor motorcycle—which had been dismantled into parts—were recovered from the premises. Thus, the police successfully recovered a total of four stolen motorcycles.
The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that during questioning, the accused admitted to stealing motorcycles from the Varanasi, Mughalsarai, and Chandauli areas of Uttar Pradesh using master keys. After the theft, the vehicles were brought to Kaimur, where they were dismantled, and the parts were sold to local customers. They had been running this illegal trade for a long time.
Police investigation also revealed that the arrested accused, Rafiq Siddiqui, had previously been jailed in a motorcycle theft case. Despite this, he continued to be involved in theft incidents.
The Karamchat police have registered an FIR against both accused under relevant sections and sent them to Bhabua Jail in judicial custody. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into other members of the gang, individuals involved in the buying and selling of the stolen vehicles, and the entire network. Police officials stated that action would soon be taken against others linked to this gang as well.
