PATNA------------------------A Patna Police team had gone to rescue an abducted youth. Upon spotting the police, the criminals opened fire, injuring two police personnel. In retaliatory fire, the police shot the criminal, resulting in his death.
On Friday evening, in Manichak village under the Masaurhi police station area in Patna, criminals opened rapid fire on a police team that had arrived to rescue an abducted youth. During the incident, a bullet struck Additional SHO Rahul Kumar in the leg, while another grazed ASI Sanjay Kumar's hand. Despite the sudden attack, the police team displayed courage and returned fire, forcing the criminals to flee. Both injured police personnel were immediately admitted to AIIMS Patna; their condition is reported to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, the police retaliated with gunfire, striking a notorious criminal and injuring him. The police successfully rescued the abducted youth unharmed. The injured criminal was subsequently sent to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Patna Superintendent of Police (SP) East, Parichay Kumar, stated that the police received information around 7:30 PM on Friday that criminals were plotting to murder a youth they had abducted. Acting on this information, a police team led by Additional SHO Rahul Kumar arrived at the scene. The criminals opened fire as soon as they saw the police. Police stated that all other criminals involved in the incident have been identified, and continuous raids are being conducted in the area to arrest the absconding suspects.
SP Parichay Kumar revealed that the rescued youth made a shocking disclosure during questioning. He stated that the criminals had lured him to Manichak village under the guise of buying and selling a mobile phone through an online shopping app. Upon his arrival, approximately six criminals held him captive. They assaulted him severely and attempted to rob him of his money. When the youth resisted, the criminals began plotting to kill him. Meanwhile, an alert police team arrived at the scene and saved his life.
SP Parichay Kumar stated that a criminal was shot during the police's retaliatory action. His associates first took him to the Punpun Primary Health Centre, then to PMCH, and subsequently to Max Hospital. He died while being transported from there to Paras Hospital. The deceased criminal has been identified as Mohammad Haider. According to police records, Haider had a history of criminal activity; he had previously been arrested and jailed by the Masaurhi police in a murder case and had been released on bail only a few months ago.
