BUXAR-------------------------Electricity consumers organized a one-day sit-in protest and public meeting at Mahadev Ghat, Chausa, on Wednesday to protest against the prevailing power supply issues in the Chausa Nagar Panchayat area. The event was led by Vikas Raj, representative of the Deputy Chief Councilor of Chausa Nagar Panchayat. Strong resentment against the Electricity Department was expressed in the presence of a large number of local citizens, public representatives, and social activists.

Addressing the protest, speakers highlighted persistent issues regarding power supply, dilapidated lines, and low-capacity transformers across various wards of Chausa Nagar Panchayat. Despite repeatedly apprising departmental officials of the situation, the problems remain unresolved, causing immense anger among general consumers.

Following the protest, a delegation submitted a memorandum to departmental officials, addressed to the Executive Engineer of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Buxar. The memorandum demanded that Wards 11, 12, 13, and 14, as well as the Chausa Railway Station, Nyayipur, Kanak Narayanpur, Nandpur, and Akhauripur Gola areas, be connected to the grid line.

Furthermore, a demand was raised to relocate the 11,000-volt power line—which currently passes through the densely populated area of Kanak Narayanpur Ward No. 11—to the village's outskirts in the interest of public safety. Additionally, demands were raised to replace the existing transformer on the Railway Station Road with a 200 kVA capacity unit and to upgrade the capacity of the transformer located near the State Bank on the Akhauripur Gola-Sasaram main road.

Vikas Raj, representative of the Deputy Chief Councilor, stated that this agitation is for the public's rights, safety, and an improved electricity supply system. He warned that if the department does not take positive action soon, the protest would be intensified.

A large number of social activists and electricity consumers participated in submitting the memorandum, including Vikas Raj, Ward Councilor Rambabu, Ajit Singh, Ward Councilor Chhotelal Chaudhary, Sonu Gaur, Om Prakash Sharma, Prem Prakash Sharma, Rakesh Yadav, Abhishek Gupta, Aryan, Lalmohar Ram, Vicky Malakar, Kal Kharwar, and Rupak Kushwaha.
