TELANGANA LIBERATION DAY

HYDERABAD SEP 17 (RNI) Telangana State BJP President N Ramchander Rao today demanded state Congress government to celebrate the day as Telangana Liberation Day to remembered sacrifices of the freedom fighters who fought against erstwhile Nizam regime.

Addressing the gathering after hoisting national flag at state party office here, state party chief paid tribute to the sacrifices of the many freedom fighters who fought for the liberation of Telangana.

The state government must officially celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation day.

But previous BRS and present Congress government have afraid of celebrating the day officially due to fear of losing Muslim votes, Rao alleged and said the governments of Maharashtra and Karnataka have been celebrating the day officially as “ Mukti Diwas”

Recalling the history of Libration day the state BJP chief said while the entire country celebrates August 15 as Independence Day, the Hyderabad state did not gain its independence until September 17, 1948."

Rao said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was then union home minister , led a historic police action christened as “ Operation Polo” against the tyrannical Nizam, making Telangana an integral part of India on that day".

"This victory was built on the sacrifices of many. The Razakars, a private army formed by Qasim Razvi to oppose Nizam's rule, harassed countless innocent people, committed atrocities against women, and took many lives in the Hyderabad state."

"Atrocities against women and attacks by Razakars occurred in many places like Bairanpalli, Parakala, Gundrampalli, and Nirmal. Many people in these areas fought against the Razakars."

This history should be a reminder for all of us. We should never forget the events that happened especially the struggle of the people of Telangana against the tyrannical Nizam, he said. "If Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had not played a key role through the police action of Operation Polo, this region might have become part of Pakistan or another independent nation,” he said.

Rao said for the past over two decades, BJP has been continuously fighting to officially celebrate Telangana Liberation Day to remember freedom fighters who laid their lives while fighting against atrocities of Razakars.

After the BJP came to power at the Centre, Home Minister Amit Shah, after the efforts of Union Minister Kishan Reddy has decided to celebrate the day officially, he said adding that the Indian Army and Central Forces have been celebrating this day for the past three years. For the first time, under the leadership of Amit Shah, the national flag was hoisted to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day under the auspices of the central government."

On the occasion Rao extended heartfelt birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said India is growing into a developed nation with a corruption-free, well-governed administration under his leadership.

Rao said today is also Viswakarma Day, so we should remember the services of the workers who are contributing to nation-building and pay homage to Maharshi Viswakarma."

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, BJP State Organization General secretary Chandrasekhar, party state general secretaries Gautam Rao, Veerender Goud, and Vemula Ashok, MLC Anji Reddy, various morcha presidents, senior leaders, and others participated in the event.
