In Ramsar Mathiya village within the Krishnabrahm police station area, a newlywed woman was recently poisoned to death over a demand for a gold chain as dowry. In this case, the prime accused—the deceased woman's husband, Pawan Giri—who had been absconding, finally surrendered before the Buxar Court following intense police pressure. The police noted that the deceased woman's mother-in-law had already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with this dowry murder case. The deceased woman's husband, Pawan Giri, had been absconding since the incident occurred.
The police had been continuously conducting raids and exerting pressure to secure his arrest. Amidst mounting pressure and the looming threat of arrest, he appeared before the court and surrendered. It is reported that the woman was married on May 28, 2023, to Pawan Giri, the son of Angrahit Giri, a resident of Ramsar Mathiya village. Shortly after the marriage, her in-laws began demanding a motorcycle and a gold chain as dowry. When these demands were not met, the woman was subjected to both mental and physical harassment. Her mother-in-law would frequently taunt her, remarking that her son had been married into a "pauper's household."
The family members allege that, because the dowry demands remained unfulfilled, the husband and mother-in-law conspired to poison the woman. When her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Dumraon for treatment, where she passed away during the course of her medical care. Following the incident, the police registered a case based on the statements provided by the family members and initiated swift action. Krishnabrahm Station House Officer Ravi Kumar stated that the prime accused in the case has surrendered before the court under police pressure. Acting on the court's orders, he has been sent to jail in judicial custody. The police are investigating every aspect of the case.
