VILLAGE HEAD ACCUSED OF ATTACKING

BUXAR-----------------------A dispute over the partition and measurement of ancestral land escalated between two kinsmen in Barka Singhanpura village, under the Simri police station area. One party has lodged a complaint at the Simri police station, accusing the village head (Mukhiya), Virendra Kumar Pathak, of assault and an attempt on their lives using a licensed rifle, while also seeking police protection. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Complainant Manoj Kumar Pathak stated that he and the village head, Virendra Kumar Pathak, are kinsmen and have been embroiled in a long-standing dispute regarding the partition of ancestral land. He alleged that the conflict intensified during the land measurement process. Subsequently, the village head arrived with his associate, Ravi Chaudhary, and allegedly attempted a lethal attack on Manoj's younger brother, Narayan Ji Pathak, using a licensed rifle.

Manoj Pathak claims that the accused was preparing to fire the loaded rifle when he managed to snatch the weapon away. During the scuffle, he was assaulted and sustained injuries. Following the incident, he alerted the 'Dial-112' emergency service. Upon the police's arrival, the rifle was handed over to them, and Manoj later received medical treatment at the Simri Community Health Centre. In his complaint, he has sought protection for his family and demanded legal action against the accused. Manoj Pathak alleges that the village head is openly brandishing weapons in the village to intimidate people associated with his side.

Meanwhile, the allegations against the village head, Virendra Kumar Pathak, have become a hot topic of discussion in the area. Given that the matter stems from a land partition dispute between kinsmen, there is widespread speculation regarding the entire sequence of events. The dispute flared up again this morning, prompting a police team to rush to the scene and prevent the situation from deteriorating further; however, an atmosphere of tension still prevails in the village.

Simri Station House Officer (SHO) Jyoti Kumari stated that there is a dispute between the two parties regarding land partition and measurement, and both sides are leveling allegations against each other. Upon receiving the information, he personally visited the scene to assess the situation. He stated that action is being taken against both parties under Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the matter will be referred to the SDO Court. The Station House Officer (SHO) mentioned that the police have spoken to both parties and appealed to them to maintain peace and law and order.
