ARA-----------------------The 28^th death anniversary of the former Jawahar Lal Nehru Students Union President, Comrade Chandrashekhar and Shyam Narayan Yadav was celebrated as a Sankalp Sabha in the district office of the CPI(ML) at Sri tola in Ara under the banner of Bhojpur All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Inquilabi Naujawan Sabha. Leaders paid floral tributes and garlanded their portraits. They also observed two minute silence for the departed souls.

Speaking on the occasion, the CPI(ML) District Secretary, Jawahar Lal Singh said that Comrade Chandrashekhar was not just a student leader but a symbol of revolutionary consciousness and struggle. He was the former president of the Jawahar Lal Nehru University Students’ Union from the student organization AISA. He raised the issues of education, employment and social justice vociferously but his struggle was not limited to the university alone. He was leading a mass movement against imperialist, capitalist, communal and caste oppression. He also opposed feudal domination. He fought for the rights of the poor, labourers and dalits and was inspiring the weaker sections to stand firmly against exploitation.

ARYA District President, Niranjan Kesari said that today when fascist forces are crushing democracy, constitution and freedom of expression, when the rights of farmers, labourers and youths are being snatches away, Chandu’s struggle reminds us that the path of revolution is never easy. His martyrdom inspires us to stand up against injustice and oppose all forms of dictatorship and oppression. Today the youth will have to stand up to protect their rights.

AISA District Joint Secretary, Roshan Kushwaha conducted the meeting and said that Shaheed Chandrashekhar was a favourite leader of students during his lifetime. He is still remembers as a source of inspiration for the new generation. He further said that if Comrade Chandrashekhar was alive today, we would have strengthened the fight for the rights of students, youths and farmers. We have to spread the ideas of Comrade Chandrashekhar on campuses and among students and youths, only then can an egalitarian society be made.
