ARA---------------------------Former Union Minister R.K. Singh has strongly criticised the local administration and revenue department following the daylight murder of retired Customs Assistant Commissioner Ram Kumar Singh in Ara, Bhojpur district.
After meeting the grieving family at their residence in Kanakpuri Mohalla under Nawada police station limits, Singh alleged that the killing was rooted in a long-standing land dispute. He claimed that Ram Kumar Singh had purchased the land around 2006, with all documents and a boundary wall registered in his name. Despite this, the Circle Officer (Anchal Adhikari) allegedly took a bribe and transferred the property mutation in someone else’s name without any legitimate local claim.
Singh further accused the Mufassil police station in-charge of colluding with the accused. He said the boundary wall was demolished in broad daylight and no timely action was taken. He demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of the Circle Officer on charges of encroachment and abetment of the murder. Mere suspension of the police station in-charge, he said, was not enough — arrest should follow if the investigation confirms involvement.
The former minister also raised questions about the Revenue Minister, asking why corruption was rampant in the department and whether postings were being made for money. He pointed to another similar case involving land received from the victim’s in-laws in Udwantnagar, where mutation was allegedly changed after taking bribes years later.
Singh described the incident as reminiscent of the murder of Brahmeshwar Mukhiya and demanded the swift arrest of all accused. He warned that if effective action is not taken within 15 days — including the suspension and arrest of the officers involved — a large-scale agitation would be launched. He also criticised the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police for not acting on earlier complaints by the family.
Highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation, he noted that multiple murders had taken place in the district in a short span, including shootings in broad daylight. “What kind of administration is this?” he asked, demanding that the authorities wake up and restore order.
