ADVOCATES BOYCOTT JUDICIAL WORK

ARA---------------------------The patience of advocates at the Jagdishpur Civil Court ran out as they protested against the lack of basic amenities and administrative apathy. Gathering under the banner of the Advocates' Association, the lawyers staged a vigorous protest within the court premises—completely boycotting judicial work—and raised slogans in support of their demands.

The primary trigger for this protest, led by Association President Anil Kumar Choubey, was a generator that has been out of order for the past two and a half months. The advocates allege that despite repeatedly informing the court administration, the District Judge, and the Patna High Court in writing about this serious issue, the administration has yet to take any concrete action.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Bar Association spokesperson Vinod Verma noted that daily power outages are common in the area, causing court operations to grind to a halt for roughly two to two-and-a-half hours. The lack of a functional generator plunges courtrooms into darkness, disrupting judicial proceedings. Judicial officers, advocates, and litigants traveling from far-flung areas are facing immense hardship due to the scorching heat and lack of lighting—factors that pose a major obstacle to the smooth functioning of the justice system.

Following this one-day boycott, the Advocates' Association issued a clear warning: if the generator is not repaired or replaced immediately, they will be compelled to continue the boycott indefinitely. A large number of senior and junior advocates, including General Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, were present during the protest and unanimously demanded the restoration of basic amenities.

Many advocates—including Uttam Prasad, Chandrabhushan Sahay, Jaykant Dubey, Brinda Yadav, Harshvardhan Singh, General Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, Mukul Vikas Srivastava, Manish Kumar Srivastava, Dharmesh Singh, Shivaji Singh, Anil Singh, Sunil Kushwaha, Rajvallabh Prasad, Md. Zahid Hussain, Taiyab Hussain, Kumar Saurav, and Bhupendra Singh—were present to protest against this state of disarray and administrative negligence within the temple of justice.
