BUXAR---------------------------On Sunday, a land dispute turned bloody in Banjariya village, located within the jurisdiction of the Murar police station in the district. A younger brother attacked and murdered his own elder brother using a cleaver. The deceased's wife and son were also critically injured in this incident.

According to reports, Krishna Yadav (35)—son of Ramashish Yadav—had been embroiled in a long-standing land dispute with his elder brother, Akshaybar Yadav (50). The dispute turned violent on Sunday morning when Akshaybar Yadav's wife, Meena Devi, was cleaning an earthen stove in the courtyard of their home. At that moment, Krishna Yadav arrived at the scene; he smashed the stove and began verbally abusing her. He alleged that the stove had been built on the portion of land belonging to his share.

Hearing the commotion, Akshaybar Yadav rushed to the spot and attempted to reason with his younger brother, but the argument only escalated. Amidst the altercation, Krishna Yadav grabbed a cleaver kept nearby and launched a frenzied attack on him. The attack resulted in severe lacerations to both of Akshaybar Yadav's hands, causing profuse bleeding and leading to a rapid deterioration of his condition at the scene.

Meena Devi, who rushed to save her husband, and their son, Vikas Kumar (18), were also attacked by the accused. Meena Devi sustained deep wounds to her hands in the assault, while Vikas Kumar suffered a severe injury near his neck. With the assistance of local villagers, the injured were first taken to Chaugai and subsequently to the Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced Akshaybar Yadav dead. The injured mother and son are currently undergoing treatment.

The injured son, Vikas Kumar, stated that the dispute over the land had been ongoing for quite some time. He noted that his uncle (the accused) had already managed to have three *kathas* of land transferred into his own name by their grandmother, a move that had created persistent tension within the household regarding the division of property. Complaints regarding this matter had been lodged at the police station on several occasions; however, each time, the police would merely broker a compromise between the two parties and send them back home. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Murar police—led by Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar—arrived at the scene and, taking swift action, arrested the accused, Krishna Yadav. The SDPO stated that during a land dispute between two brothers, the younger brother attacked the elder brother with a sharp-edged weapon; the injured elder brother subsequently succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The police have taken the accused into custody and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
