ARA--------------------------A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Imadpur village, under the jurisdiction of the Imadpur police station; the body of a 12-year-old boy, who had gone missing after drowning in a canal, was recovered a day after the incident. This tragic event has become a topic of discussion across the entire region.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Ankush Kumar, the 12-year-old son of Ravi Kumar, a resident of Mokhalisa village under the Koilwar police station area. Ankush had been staying at his maternal grandparents' home in Imadpur for some time. It is reported that his mother, Punita Devi, had undergone surgery four months ago; following this, Ankush had accompanied her to her parents' home for her recovery and care.

The incident occurred last Sunday. It is reported that on Sunday afternoon, Ankush was crossing a makeshift bamboo bridge (*chachri pul*) over the canal in Imadpur village. Suddenly, his foot slipped, and he fell directly into the deep water. News of him drowning in the canal caused a stir in the locality. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the SDRF team was immediately informed. The team made tireless efforts until late Sunday evening, but the boy could not be located due to darkness and the strong water current.

During the search operation on Monday morning, the teenager's body was recovered from the canal near the bamboo bridge in Nagopur village. Upon receiving information about the incident, the local police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to Ara Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Ankush was the eldest of two brothers. His surviving family includes his mother, Punita Devi, and younger brother, Rishabh Kumar. This sudden accident has left the family in deep shock. His mother, Punita Devi, and other relatives are inconsolable over the loss of their only son. A wave of grief has swept through the entire village following this tragic incident. The police have completed the necessary formalities and handed over the body to the family.
