The Bhabua Civil Court has delivered a significant verdict in a case involving the seizure of 38 kg of *ganja* (cannabis) in the Adhaura police station area in 2023. Following the conclusion of the trial, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-II, Vinay Prakash Tiwari, convicted both accused and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each. Additionally, a fine of ₹1 lakh has been imposed on each of them. The court clarified in its order that failure to deposit the fine amount would result in an additional six months of imprisonment. Mithilesh Kumar Singh, the Special Public Prosecutor for NDPS cases, stated that this matter relates to Adhaura Police Station Case No. 53/2023. He explained that on September 30, 2023, during an intensive raid operation conducted by the police, two suspicious individuals were stopped and searched near Dighar Mor in the Adhaura police station area. During the search, a total of 38 kg of cannabis was recovered from their possession. Subsequently, the police arrested both accused persons at the scene. They were identified as Deepu (son of Nanhe Prasad), a resident of Rajakot village under the Haidergarh police station area in Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh; and Dharmendra Kumar (son of Lal Bahadur Ram), a resident of Dumarkon village under the Adhaura police station area in Kaimur district.

An FIR was registered at the Adhaura police station under the NDPS Act based on the statement of the then Station House Officer (SHO) of Adhaura, Bal Vrind Prasad. After remanding the accused to judicial custody and completing the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet in court.
During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence, the seizure list, witness statements, and other documentary proof before the court. Based on the available evidence, the court found both accused guilty of the illegal possession and trafficking of cannabis.
After hearing arguments from all sides, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-II, Vinay Prakash Tiwari, sentenced both convicts to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh each, with an additional six months of imprisonment in default of payment of the fine.
