TEJ PRATAP ARRESTED FIRST, FIR LATER

PATNA----------------------------Tej Pratap Yadav's bail plea was filed in court today. In the petition, the lawyer has requested that Tej Pratap be kept under medical observation. Serious allegations have also been leveled against the Patna Police.

A bail plea for Tej Pratap Yadav—former Bihar minister and president of the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD)—was filed in the SDJM court today, Monday. Advocate Nisha Singh, who filed the petition, raised serious questions regarding the Patna Police administration. She termed the police action against Tej Pratap a political conspiracy. She stated that Tej Pratap was visiting a mall in Patna when the police entered the premises and took him into custody. She alleged that the Patna Police deliberately detained him on a Saturday so that he would be unable to secure legal relief due to the Sunday holiday.

Advocate Nisha Singh claimed that no FIR had been registered against Tej Pratap at the time of his arrest by the Patna Police. She argued that an arrest made without a registered FIR raises questions about due legal process, noting that no one can be arrested without an FIR; yet, the Patna Police arrested Tej Pratap first and registered the FIR against him later.

Advocate Nisha Singh also expressed concern regarding JJD chief Tej Pratap's health. She stated that, given his health condition, keeping him in jail would not be safe. Consequently, she requested the court to place him under medical observation. Singh noted that Tej Pratap Yadav is already battling health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure, making imprisonment unsuitable given his current condition.

Advocate Nisha Singh raised strong objections to the charges invoked by the Patna Police in the FIR against Tej Pratap Yadav, which include inciting riots and attempted murder. They informed the court that Tej Pratap Yadav neither made any inflammatory statement nor incited anyone. Tej Pratap was merely passing in his vehicle through the area where students were protesting. It was only at the students' request that he stepped out of the vehicle, waved the national flag, and then left the scene.
