ARA---------------------------The Department of Student Welfare at Veer Kunwar Singh University has sought an explanation from the Principal of Jan Sahkari Degree College (Barap) regarding the collection of enrollment fees from students belonging to the SC/ST categories. In a letter issued on April 11, the university stated that clear directives had previously been issued—under Order No. DSW/59/24, dated June 14, 2024—stipulating that no fees of any kind were to be collected under the enrollment head from SC/ST students or from female students of any category. Despite this, the university has received complaints alleging that the concerned college has proceeded to collect these fees. In the letter, the Dean of Student Welfare, O.P. Rai, asked the Principal why fees were collected from SC/ST students and female students of all categories, in direct contravention of the university's orders. Furthermore, the university has demanded a comprehensive explanation regarding this entire matter within seven days.
