BADMINTON TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF IN BUXAR

BUXAR------------------------The State-Level Badminton Tournament-2026, organized jointly by the District Badminton Association (Buxar) and the district administration under the directives of the Bihar State Badminton Association, had a grand inauguration on Sunday at the Indoor Badminton Hall, Buxar. District Magistrate Sahila (IAS) inaugurated the competition by lighting the ceremonial lamp and cutting the ribbon.

Following the inauguration, the District Magistrate met with players arriving from various districts and extended her best wishes, encouraging them to participate with sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence.

In her address, DM Sahila stated that sports serve as a powerful medium for the holistic development of the youth. Beyond improving physical and mental health, sports foster discipline, self-confidence, leadership qualities, team spirit, and a positive mindset. She noted that state-level competitions provide an excellent platform for players to showcase their talent and inspire them to excel at national and international levels. Appreciating the organizing committee's preparations, she wished for the successful conduct of the tournament.

Several administrative officials were present at the event, including the Deputy Development Commissioner, Additional Collector, Assistant Collector, District Land Acquisition Officer, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sub-Divisional Public Grievance Redressal Officer, Senior Deputy Collector-cum-Special Officer (District Confidential Branch), and Senior Deputy Collector-cum-Deputy Superintendent of Physical Education. All the guests encouraged the players and wished for the tournament's success.

On this occasion, Umesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the District Badminton Association, outlined the tournament structure, the various age-group categories, and the event preparations. Meanwhile, Ashutosh Rai, the Association's Vice-Secretary, expressed gratitude to the players, coaches, referees, and guests, stating that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure the fair and successful conduct of the tournament.

A large number of players from various districts of Bihar are participating in this tournament, which runs from July 19 to July 23. Singles and doubles matches across different age groups will be played over the next five days. The objective of the event is to provide an opportunity for the state's budding players to showcase their talent and to prepare them for national-level competitions.

The inaugural ceremony saw a significant turnout of players, coaches, parents, sports enthusiasts, and local citizens. An atmosphere of enthusiasm and excitement regarding the sport prevailed in the indoor badminton hall throughout the day. The competition's conclusion and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on July 23, 2026.
