88 MALE BUFFALO CALVES RECOVERED, TWOM SMUGGLERS ARRESTED

BHABHUA---------------------------In a major crackdown on cattle smuggling, the police recovered 88 male buffalo calves (*pada*) being illegally transported in a container within the Mohania police station area. Two smugglers, including the container driver, were arrested at the scene. Additionally, a container truck and two mobile phones have been seized. According to the police, on the night of August 2, 2026, around 9 PM, the Mohania police station received a tip-off that animals were being transported cruelly in a container truck from Dehri to Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. To verify the information and take action, the Mohania police initiated a vehicle inspection drive near the flyover opposite Belaudi Mor in Barej village.

During the inspection, container truck number UP21CT-0014 was stopped and searched. The search revealed 88 male buffalo calves (*pada*) tied up in a cruel manner. The police immediately arrested two accused individuals, including the driver, and seized all the livestock, the container truck, and two mobile phones. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Irshad (son of Abdullah, resident of Karimpura, Bulandshahr Road, Hapur, Uttar Pradesh) and Raja Ram (son of Rajendra Ram, resident of Raja Saili, Ward No. 09, Simri Police Station, Darbhanga District, Bihar). An FIR regarding cattle smuggling and related charges has been registered at the Mohania police station, and further legal action is underway. The police are investigating the entire network to identify others involved in the cattle smuggling operation.
