BHABHUA-----------------------------In a major crackdown on the liquor trade, the district Excise Department seized a large consignment of liquor being smuggled in a DCM truck at the Integrated Check Post on the Delhi-Kolkata Highway (under the jurisdiction of Mohania Police Station) and arrested the driver. The consignment, comprising approximately 650 cartons of various liquor brands totaling 5,670 liters, was being transported from Haryana to Bihar; its estimated value is around ₹85 lakhs. The arrested driver has been identified as Rajendra Singh, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Santosh Kumar, the officer-in-charge of the excise check-post at the Integrated Check Post, stated on Wednesday morning that a consignment of liquor was being transported from Haryana to Bihar. Acting on a tip-off, a DCM truck (RJ32GE 8700) was intercepted; upon inspection, a large consignment of liquor worth approximately ₹85 lakh was discovered. Further questioning regarding various aspects of the case is currently underway.
