ARA------------------------Late Monday night, near the Abdul Bari Bridge in the Koilwar police station area of ​​Ara, an auto-rickshaw packed with laborers lost control after being sideswiped by an unidentified truck and crashed into a railway wall. The impact was so severe that the auto was badly mangled. Seven laborers on board sustained serious injuries.

One of the victims, 50-year-old Md. Sagir—a resident of Ward No. 6, Koilwar Nagar Panchayat—died during treatment. Another, 50-year-old Md. Alim from Ward No. 5, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Patna. The injured include Krishna Rai, Anil Rai, Santosh Rai, Sujit Kumar, and Shambhu Kumar; all are reported to be in critical condition.

According to reports, the laborers were returning home to Koilwar late at night after working at a sand quarry in the Lai area (Bihta police station limits). En route, a speeding unidentified truck coming from the direction of Koilwar sideswiped their auto. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash directly into the railway wall.

Chaos ensued at the scene following the accident. A Dial-112 team and locals rushed the injured to the Community Health Center in Koilwar. After receiving first aid, the critically injured laborers were referred to hospitals in Ara and Patna. Upon receiving the news, the Koilwar police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Family members and locals flocked to the hospital upon hearing about the accident. Wails of grief erupted among the relatives when they learned of the two deaths. The police have initiated legal proceedings following post-mortem examinations of the bodies.
